The Anchorage Daily News reported that Scott Davis sustained an injury and the team is returning to Puntilla Lake, their last checkpoint. Scott Davis and Todd Palin are two of the best, most decorated snowmachine riders. Decision to return is sound judgment.

Palin sister-in-law makes plea deal in burglary: AP Alaska

The Anchorage Daily News reports that while ex-governor Sarah Palin prepares to address a convention of teabaggers, the sister of Sarah Palin's husband Todd reached a plea deal with prosecutors in a burglary case. 35-year-old Diana Palin was given a 15-month sentence. She has already served five months and will finish her sentence at drug rehab.

New layoffs at Anchorage Daily News

Anchorage Daily News managers eliminated jobs of journalists as McClatchy continued its strategy of maintaining profit margins by cutting costs. Over the past two years, dozens at the newspaper have been laid off. Daily News circulation is down .The company remains more than $1 billion in debt. McClatchy could join Morris in bankruptcy court.

Sherry Johnston was sentenced Friday in Palmer, about 45 miles northeast of Anchorage. The Anchorage Daily News reports that Sherry Johnston will serve her sentence at Alaska's only female prison.
